DriveABLE

The Company

DriveABLE is a privately funded University of Alberta spin-off company that provides a scientifically based driving evaluation to identify persons who may be unsafe to drive due to cognitive impairment.  DriveABLE's technology is internationally recognized and can be delivered on a world-wide basis.

Resources for Physicians & Healthcare Professionals

The DriveABLE assessment is for experienced drivers of any age with medical conditions that can impair mental abilities, or drivers with minor physically disabling conditions such as arthritis.

DriveABLE was developed through university research in response to physician frustrations about the inadequacy of medical assessment tools for fitness-to-drive decisions. DriveABLE provides a scientifically validated assessment protocol that effectively evaluates fitness-to-drive, even in the case of patients with complex medical conditions.

Who Does DriveABLE Assess?

DriveABLE does not assess drivers with severely disabling physical conditions requiring vehicle modifications. The results of a DriveABLE assessment can be helpful to physicians in pursuing therapeutic options for their patients, for caregivers who are concerned about someone's driving, for law enforcement officials who require an independent assessment of an individual to determine impairment and for insurance brokers who are looking to manage their risk in clients with possible medically impairing conditions.

DriveABLE reduces the burden.

Symptoms & Warning Signs

Clients of all ages whose driving competence is in question due to a medical condition, medication, and/or a natural decline that has affected their mental abilities are appropriate referrals. Research has confirmed the fairness of the DriveABLE assessment for both rural and urban drivers.
